Oak Honey from Malcata, or Mel de Carvalho Serra da Malcata in Portuguese.

Oak Honey from Serra da Malcata comes from the shoots of oak acorns and is produced during the months of June and July, in the northern region of Serra da Malcata, along the banks of the Côa river, in the oak forests abundant there. This honey has a very dark colour and is extremely dense. It has a characteristic malt aroma and is much appreciated by people who apreciates less sweet products.

The honey produced in the higher slopes of Serra da Malcata, where heathers predominate, has a dark colour and a strong taste – Heather Honey. On the lower slopes, where wild lavender prevails, honey has a light colour and an aromatic taste – Wild Lavender Honey. The beehives in the middle slopes, with access to heathers and wild lavender, produce our tasty Heather and Wild Lavender Honey.
